Learning Objectives

This online module will:

  • Discuss employer and employee responsibilities under relevant safety legislation.

  • Examine handling and moving risk factors.

  • Review dynamic risk assessments including when and how to conduct them.

  • Discuss how to maintain muscle and bone health.

  • Discuss safer moving and handling principles.

Syllabus

On completion of this module you will be able to:-

  • Analyse risk factors associated with moving and handling.

  • Identify health and safety responsibilities of employers and employees.

  • Explain safer moving and handling principles.

  • Distinguish musculoskeletal health-friendly ergonomic approaches to moving and handling.

  • Explain considerations for dynamic risk assessment in moving and handling.

  • Plan risk control strategies and resources appropriate to the activity and role to facilitate good practice.

  • Identify organisational risk management processes to inform safe work practices.

  • Find out what support is available to facilitate good practice.

  • Apply safe moving and handling principles when working with 
    equipment relevant to a job role.

Learning Options

Face to face 4 hours

Duration

Duration is 6 hours for new starts or a 3 hour refresher.

Numbers

A maximum of 12 students and minimum of 6.

Students must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
